Cozy Cottage in Berkeley's Poet’s Corner

Great and cozy place, will return!

Adequate if nothing else available. Positive: It was roomy and accepted my dogs. Negative: Where to start? It was cold. One room had an in-room heater. The living space had an archaic and broken gas fireplace-stove. The sink in the kitchen was grotesque. The outside space had unmaintained brick surface that was a tripping hazard. We were told we would have ‘full use of the driveway.’ That wasn’t the case so parking was not as advertised. The electric lock malfunctioned and there was no lockbox with a backup key.

Exceeded our expectations. Positive: The cottage is exactly what you would expect in Berkeley. The main room has a high ceiling and the bedrooms are separated to provide privacy. There is a great patio in the back. Having the cottage behind the houses on the street creates a quiet little oasis. There are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We had friends and family visit and no one had trouble finding street parking. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely stay again in the future. Negative: The kitchen was a little challenging. I am 5ft tall and could not reach the cabinets very well. We didn’t cook, but things like glasses and mugs were difficult for me to reach.

Would recommend for an affordable place just 30 mins from dwntn sf. Positive: Property was as described. Slightly older house but was comfortable as such. Location felt safe and in a good neighbourhood. Hosts were prompt to resolve an issue we had when checking in. Negative: Could have been cleaner. As it’s made of wood, creaky noise is expected.
